would you buy insurance from this man?

images-1The former pastor of New Life Church, Ted Haggard, is back in all our lives, but not because of another meth-addled, male prostitution sex scandal. Once the leader of the 30 million-member National Association of Evangelicals, Haggard fell from grace after his extracurricular sexual activities became oh-so-public. These days he’s pitching insurance and dipping his toes back into the world of preaching. Unfortunately he’s now blaming his sexuality on abuse he suffered as a child.

…no one can deny the profound impact that kind of horror has on a young boy, but to suggest the only reason he had gay liaisons in his 50’s was because of what happened to him four decades prior is an insult to all the other victims of abuse trying to create healthy sexual identities for themselves. Expect to hear more from Haggard soon–he was too big and too successful not to give public life another shot. A second gay sex scandal is sure to be close behind.
